The grounds

The property sits within two and a half acres of private gardens, mature trees, and open fields, the kind of setting that makes it easy to forget you’re only minutes from an international airport. Guests are welcome to walk the grounds during their stay, whether that’s a proper morning walk or just a quiet ten minutes with a cup of tea before heading out for the day.

This is a working property rather than a manicured show garden, and that’s part of the appeal. The grounds are also home to dogs and horses: several guests have told us that meeting the animals on site was one of the things they remembered most fondly about their stay, alongside the breakfast and the welcome itself.

Antrim town and Antrim Castle Gardens

Antrim town is a short drive away and worth a wander in its own right, but the real draw nearby is Antrim Castle Gardens, restored 17th-century gardens with walking paths, a walled garden, and plenty of space to stretch your legs after a day of travelling. It’s a pleasant, unhurried stop rather than a major attraction, which suits the pace most of our guests are looking for.

Junction One Outlet Shopping Centre

It’s around a ten-minute drive away and one of the most popular short trips for our guests, with a wide range of high-street and outlet stores under one roof, plus places to stop for coffee or lunch between shops. It’s an easy, low-effort way to spend a few hours, particularly on a changeable Northern Irish afternoon.

Lough Neagh

The UK and Ireland’s largest freshwater lake is close by, and several access points around its shores make for a good half-day out: walking, birdwatching, or simply taking in the water and open skies. It’s a proper change of pace from an airport terminal or a motorway drive, and one of the more underrated things to do in the area.

The wider Co. Antrim coast

If you’ve got more than a night or two, Aldergrove makes a workable base for exploring further afield along the Causeway Coast: the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, and the string of villages and beaches along the north coast are all reachable by car within roughly an hour. Plenty of guests use us as a first or last night’s stop either side of a longer coastal trip, rather than basing themselves on the coast the whole time. Who this suits

This part of the stay tends to appeal most to guests who want more than a room to sleep in: a genuine countryside setting, animals to say hello to, and enough nearby to fill a day or two without ever needing to drive into Belfast itself.
