Our story

A rural escape, built around a converted stables in Aldergrove

A small, family-run B&B built on paying proper attention to everyone who comes through the gate.

How it started

Crookedstone House began, as many of the best small businesses do, with a good building going spare and a spare room or two besides. The property’s original stables sit in mature gardens on the edge of Aldergrove, Co. Antrim, and over time the space grew into a proper bed and breakfast, offering a countryside welcome to overnight guests.

What hasn’t changed since the early days is who does the day-to-day care. Primrose is still the person who greets you at check-in, who remembers which guest takes their tea without milk, and who deals with anything that comes up personally: not an app, not a rota of rotating staff, but one person who knows the place inside out.

The property

It’s easy to understand why guests settle in so well here. The property sits well back from the road, wrapped in lawns, hedgerows and open fields, with mature trees offering shade and shelter across several acres of private grounds. There’s none of the passing traffic noise or crowding you find closer to town, just quiet countryside.

Inside, the old stable block has been properly converted rather than simply adapted: solid, easy-clean surfaces, good natural light, and rooms with a sitting area to relax in.

Being in Aldergrove also means we’re a genuinely convenient stop for anyone flying from Belfast International Airport, close enough to check in after a late flight, or set off for the terminal, without adding real time to your journey.

Why people trust us

Most of our bookings come from word of mouth: one guest recommending us to another after a quiet weekend in the gardens. That reputation matters more to Primrose than growth for its own sake, which is why Crookedstone House has stayed small and personally run rather than expanding into something bigger and less personal.

We take the same care whatever brought you here: a stop before an early flight, a countryside weekend, or simply a quiet room and a proper breakfast. See our rooms and amenities page for more on what to expect, or get in touch directly and we’ll talk it through.
