We could tell you why we think Crookedstone House is worth staying at, but honestly, our guests say it better than we do. Rather than write another list of amenities, we thought it was more useful to look at what people actually say once they’ve stayed: the recurring themes in our TripAdvisor reviews, and why they keep showing up again and again.
“The proximity to the airport”
This is the single most repeated theme in our reviews, in one form or another. One guest wrote that they “loved this place for one main reason”: the location. Another said being “situated close to the airport made it most convenient.” Just a few minutes from Belfast International Airport, and around a 10-minute drive from Junction One outlet shopping centre. It sounds like a small thing until you’ve actually done the alternative: a long drive back from Belfast city centre with a suitcase and a flight to catch.
“Primrose and Stephen most helpful”
Almost every review mentions the welcome itself, by name. A B&B this size lives or dies on the person who answers the door, and our guests consistently tell us that the welcome felt genuine rather than scripted, more like staying with people who are glad you’re there than checking into a room. That’s not something we can put a price on, but it’s clearly the thing people remember.
“Sooo comfortable”: the little details
Guests specifically call out the bed, the quiet, and “the great smell of the countryside.” It’s the sort of feedback you only get from a place that isn’t trying to be a chain hotel: a proper period house with real gardens, rather than a room that could be anywhere. “Excellent breakfast”
Breakfast comes up again and again, usually alongside a comparison to “a characterless hotel.” A full breakfast, cooked to order, with tea and coffee, served each morning. The history of the house
More than one review mentions the property itself: its age, the ongoing work to restore it, and the atmosphere that comes with staying somewhere with genuine history rather than a new-build. It’s a “beautiful period home,” as one guest put it, and that character is very much part of the point of staying here rather than at an airport chain hotel a few miles away.
Dogs, horses, and the grounds
